Hello everyone!
Today I want to tell you a story about a little girl who asked for something from God. Did she receive it? Follow the story to the end to find out.
What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
But before I tell you the story, I was wondering what was the first thing you did when you woke up this morning. Did you jump out of bed and go to the new toy you received? Or did you run to the bathroom? Or maybe you went back to the other side and kept sleeping for a few more minutes? I hope the first thing you did was pray. I hope you first thank God for protecting you overnight and ask Him to be with you on the new day. If you haven’t done this, I hope it was the last time you did anything other than pray, because the Lord Jesus wants to start the day with you. How can you get through the day without talking to Him?
But let’s see how we talk to God? In prayer. And how do we pray? Jesus explained this to His disciples. In Matthew 6 by 6 Jesus said:
„But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
Our Father is the Lord Jesus. Tell Him how you feel. Tell Him about those things that make you feel worried or scared or sad. He will listen to you and help you because you are His child.
In Psalm 139 he says:
”You know me, You know when I sit and when I rise.”
The Lord knows everything about you.
Does God exist or not?
But let’s move on to the story. It is about a little girl named Silvia Tărniceriu who lived in Romania. As a child, she learned to pray. This event takes place a long time ago.
At that time, our country was under the communist regime. The Communist Party was in power, and that government did not allow anyone to worship God and put people in prison if they were Christians. This means that in school, children were not taught about God, as you are taught, but were taught that there is no God.
However, in Silvia’s house, her parents were Christians and they taught little Silvia about God.
Silvia lived in a very poor family that slept in one room. She didn’t have many clothes to wear, in fact Silvia had to share a pair of shoes with her older brother. She wore the shoes in the morning when she went to school and in the afternoon, her brother who had afternoon classes took them.
One day while she was at school, the teacher told them that there was no God and that God did not create the Earth. The whole class laughed at Silvia because they knew she believed in God.
So Silvia became very confused. Her parents believed in God and prayed to Him, but her teacher tried to convince her that God did not exist. So she began to doubt everything her parents had taught her.
What can happen if we pray?
One day, at church, Silvia heard the pastor say that if we pray, God will reveal Himself to us. That evening, when everyone else was asleep, Silvia got out of bed and knelt on the floor next to her bed. She wanted to find the Lord Jesus. She talked to Him and told Him about all things. She asked God if He really existed, then prayed that if He existed, He would send her a new pair of shoes, a blouse, and a coat — that would be hers alone. A few nights in a row, Silvia prayed the same prayer.
A few days later, one afternoon, her father entered the house with a package. He said someone from abroad sent it. Nobody knew what was inside. When the father prayed and thanked the Lord for that package, Silvia was eager to see what was inside. What if God listened to her prayer? Guess what happened! In that package was a pair of brown girls’ shoes, a thick gray blouse, and a long coat.
But do you know what was even more interesting? When she tried them on, they fit Silvia perfectly. And they weren’t good for any other child in that big family. Silvia was so surprised but also happy. But I didn’t tell the Lord what size I am, and He certainly knows me if He even knows my size. God knows what number I wear on my shoes!
Since then, Silvia has not forgotten how God listened to her prayer, gave her shoes, and showed her that He really exists; that He knows every detail about her and cares about her.
This little girl grew up and remained faithful to God by helping many people to know Him.
Do you pray when you need something?
This story is very special because it teaches us to pray as well. Maybe you don’t need a pair of shoes to ask the Lord for, but maybe you have other things that are hard in your life. Maybe you have a hard time with homework, or maybe you feel lonely, or your friends always make fun of you. All you have to do is take some time and talk to the Lord Jesus. Tell Him everything because He knows you. Do you know that He knows how many hairs you have on your head?
I hope that tonight, before you go to bed, you will talk to the Lord Jesus, as Silvia did, ask Him to watch over you and tell Him everything you have in your heart. If you only knew how much He loves you and how much He cares about you!
