how to face daily challenges?

Hello, dear children!

Before we start with the story, it would be good if we ask ourselves:

How do we react when we are challenged?

You may be thinking: I am just a child, what could I be challenged with?

Well, maybe this morning when you put your milk over the bowl of cereal you had an accident and scattered cereal everywhere. Of course it’s a small challenge, but it’s still a challenge.

Or maybe your parents asked you to clean your brothers’ bedroom. Not your bedroom, your brothers’ bedroom, and it’s such a mess there that you don’t know where to start. This is a challenge!

Or maybe at school you remember times when your classmates laughed at you. And that can be a challenge!

These are just a few examples. I don’t know what your challenges are, but if you are honest and look carefully you will find what the challenges are in your life.

But how do we respond to challenges?

When something seems so big and difficult, maybe even scary how we react?

The story of King Jehoshaphat

Let me tell you a very old story about a king named Jehoshaphat.

One day the messengers came to King Jehoshaphat to tell him that a large, large army was coming against them. Not just an ordinary army, but three armies working together. The Bible says that Jehoshaphat was frightened, but he made a plan. It was a very good plan. He went to the Lord for counsel and told everyone in Judah to pray. This was a very wise move.

People even prayed, gathered together and prayed. Jehoshaphat stood in front of the temple, he also prayed, and you know what?! God heard their prayer. God answered their prayers through a man named Jahaziah. God had a special message for His people, and people obeyed the Lord’s commandments. They were told to go to the place of battle, to sit on their positions, to stand firm, and to receive victory from the Hand of the Lord. The Lord told them that He would fight for them. The next morning they left and listened to what the Lord had told them. Children imagine only, to go out to face the enemy!

When they went out to face the enemy, Jehoshaphat did something very interesting. He had the singers lead the army, and they were told to show the way, to sing, and to praise the Lord for His faithfulness and mercy.

Do you face the challenge with a song of praise ?!

Imagine children! Imagine greeting your enemy with a song of praise to the Lord. As they sang, an extraordinary thing happened. The Lord made the armies fight against themselves, there was confusion among the enemy armies. Ammonites and Moabites attacked the Edomites. Then the Ammonites attacked the Moabites and destroyed each other, just as the Lord had said. The people praised the Lord!

Children, what a wonderful secret we can learn from this story. Let’s face the challenges by praising God! So the next time you encounter something that is too big or too hard for you or is something you have never done before, it can be a small or big challenge. Don’t forget the strategy that Jehoshaphat’s army had, sing a song of praise to God. Stand firm, He will fight for you.

Dear children, the challenges will come. The enemy whispers to you that you are too weak, that you will not be able to be obedient, that you will not be able to love that child who is bothering you and making your life hard, that you will not be able to stop getting angry, etc. But when the challenge is ahead of you, start singing a song of praise to God! Children, without God we have no chance to overcome the challenges of our daily lives, but with Him we will have many victories.

I can’t wait to hear the answer to the questions I asked you above. You can leave me your answer in the section below 🙂

    Multumesc, Oana!
    Picii te iubesc!
