I will return

Hi, my dears!

Although I haven’t written for a long time, due to some big changes in my life, you should know that I carried you in my heart and I thought of you …

Because, however, love shows itself, here I am posting a new story for you, one very dear to my soul.

It’s the story of a boy named Flavius.

The master is leaving

His master left and no one knew why. His unexpected departure was very interesting. The servants began to talk about it. They didn’t know much, but something was known for sure, that he would be gone for a long time.

The master left clear instructions about animals, about crops, about running the house. Each servant knew clearly what he had to do, and the master expected that as long as he was gone each would continue his service faithfully.

He left on a sunny spring morning, saying: I will be back soon and I will pay you for your work. As servants watched him walk down the valley, they had mixed feelings. On the one hand, he was an honest and good master, so he respected him for this, but he did not accept laziness and expected from his servants to do well all the jobs they were given to do. So there were some of the servants who wanted to sleep a little longer. The administrator was lazy and they knew he wouldn’t be bothered by the way things were done.

The story of Flavius

A sure servant burst into tears, Flavius was born a slave and grew up in the house of a very harsh master.

Working too hard, half hungry and brutally beaten. One day his current master passed by his former master’s house and saw him in a corner lying with his small, scarred body and a frightened face.

Flavius could never forget that compassionate look which immediately demanded that the child be bought and which paid a huge sum for his freedom. His new master put the child trembling on his horse and stroked him with gentle words as they walked home. Flavius already loved this master of his who saved him.

The new job

His job was a humble job, the yard guard took care of his master’s watchdogs and slept by the front door of the house in case some travelers arrived at night. He worked out of love for his master, and the joy of his life was to serve his master and be close to him.

So as the master disappeared behind the hills, Flavius began to roll up his sleeves and set to work with such energy that the cook began to laugh, saying: – ha, anyone can think the master would come back tonight!

Time has really passed …

Time really passed very quickly, the sheep were sheared, the crops were harvested, the grapes were squeezed.

Summer is almost ready, often in the evening, Flavius would go to the foot of the hills in the cool of the evening and look away only if the master came. It should definitely come soon.

In the last days, there was a lot of quarreling and gossip and dissatisfaction in the servants’ rooms, and there were even rumors that the master had died. Only Flavius continued to work faithfully. The trees began to turn brown, orange and yellow, but the master still did not come. The servants became very lazy, drunk, and each did just what he wanted.

The announcement

One day a very interesting announcement was made, the administrator invited everyone to a banquet in the great hall. Maybe, Flavius thought, maybe he’ll announce his master’s return. He entered the banquet hall with an open heart and great enthusiasm. He looked around in amazement at how crowded the tables were, two of the master’s sheep were slaughtered, and all sorts of desserts were prepared.

The administrator beat the crowd, and when it was quiet he made an announcement. – News has reached us: the master is dead, and this banquet is in my honor to celebrate me as your new master.

No one saw little Flavius running away from the room and throwing himself on his straw mattress next to the front door of the house and crying and crying until I had no more tears to cry. Big and fierce guard dogs came to him and crouched beside him.

The noise in the banquet hall grew louder as the drunkenness increased. Flavius had a broken heart, he knew that he would never, ever be able to serve another master.

The return of the master

Suddenly the big hunting dogs started barking and started to raise their heads up.

Flavius also got up and tried to hear, but all he could hear was the screams and laughter of drunken people coming from the banquet hall. But suddenly the dogs jumped to their feet and ran towards the gate. In the distance, in the moonlight, a figure was seen walking beside his horse.

Then Flavius knew too. He began to run, looking at his beloved master with his heart too full to speak. His master looked at his face bathed in tears and asked him: why only you welcome me home and what is all this noise I hear? Why are the lights on in the banquet hall? And where are all the other servants?

– They’re holding a banquet, master, they thought you were dead!

When the master spoke his voice was sad: – Then why are you alone here and not at the banquet?

A servant becomes a son

There, in the quiet light of the moon, Flavius poured out his heart before his master. “Did you not pay a high price for me, master, and did you become your servant?” And didn’t you promise to come back? How could I serve another master? Am I not your servant forever?

For a moment he thought that one of the dogs had put his nose on his head, but then he realized that his master’s hand was resting on his hair.

– No Flavius, not a servant, but now a son, a son forever!

Children, evil seems to reign in the world, but Jesus promised to return. Remember what he said:

black lineAnd if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:3

black lineWatch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. Mathew 25:13

Flavius was ready to meet his master when he came back, for he continued his service faithfully, even though all the servants around him became lazy and unfaithful. Imagine their shock when their master entered the banquet hall, when they least expected it.

Let us live today and in the days to come knowing that the Lord can come back at any time.

Are you a faithful servant like Flavius?
